Cheshire East Council, in its role as the Local Planning Authority, has a general duty to make appropriate provision for the preservation and planting of trees.  Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) are made to protect trees which make a significant contribution to the amenity of an area, particularly when they are considered to be under threat. A TPO can specify a single tree, groups of trees, areas and woodlands but not hedges or shrubs.

Members of the public are permitted to make representations, answer questions and give evidence in respect of any item of business included in the agenda. The period of time which is designated for public participation shall normally not exceed 10 minutes but may be extended at the discretion of the chairman. Each member of the public is entitled to speak once only in respect of business itemised on the agenda and shall not speak for more than 3 minutes. The Town Council usually meets on the third Monday of each month. We also circulate notices to Wilmslow.co.uk, the Wilmslow Express, Wilmslow Leisure Centre and the Oakenclough Centre.

In addition to meetings of the full Town Council there are also regular meetings of the Community and Order Committee, Finance Committee and Planning Committee.
